The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Sri Lanka organized a beach-cleaning initiative at Setthappadu with 25 HSBC staff on June 22nd in coordination with Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) Sri Lanka and Coast ConservationDepartment (CCD) Sri Lanka. This was to remove the plastic and other waste washed up on the beach in large quantities due to pollution of the sea. Sanctuary House was privileged to host this group and support this noteworthy initiative.
