Sanitation
In 2009 we constructed a new toilet for the nearby local Catholic church as part of a Sanitation and Hygiene initiative.
Thank you for taking time to visit the beautiful country of Sri Lanka from 12-17 April 2015 to meet and interact with people and communities who are gradually rebuilding their lives after enduring the devastating effects of a civil war.
All of us at Sanctuary house and Alliance development trust were inspired and encouraged by all of you.
It is our sincere hope that the experiences you received personally and as a group would have helped you empathize better with vulnerable people ; not only empathy, but that it would also encourage you to act on behalf of those who need advocacy, support and empowerment in every underprivileged community you encounter.
Do you remember the first community you visited at Theravil in Jaffna? After you spent time with the Women’s committee and the children, one mother thanked me for bringing you all to visit.
She explained ” it is only because these young men and women have studied, that doors have opened for them to visit other countries. It is my desire to continue to encourage our children using this group as an inspiration. If our children would somehow complete their education despite all our hardship, doors would then open for them as well! “
I am confident that many lives have been touched and inspired by each one of you. Continue the good work. Thank you for inspiring us as well.
Warm regards,
Paul Navamani
