Since Sanctuary House is adjacent to Negombo Lagoon and Muthurajawela, and has an abundance of water, it is only logical that we develop our waterways as well as Lagoon frontage.
Art Competition
In 2013 an Art competition was held in two nearby schools. The best artists were invited to Sanctuary House and encouraged to reproduce their winning art on our boundary wall
Sanitation
In 2009 we constructed a new toilet for the nearby local Catholic church as part of a Sanitation and Hygiene initiative.
Donation of Uniform Material
We also donated uniform material for 75 poor children from the village in 2008.
Free Computer Classes
In 2008 we also conducted Basic Computer Programs for 40 children.
Both the English Classes and the IT classes were conducted in a Modified container with Air Conditioning. It was a novel experience for the children.
Free English Classes
In 2008 and 2009 we conducted free English Classes for over 100 children who were referred to us by the Local Parish priest since they could not afford to attend paid classes in the city.
